Social Innovation in Marginalised Rural Areas

Social Innovation in Marginalised Rural Areas (SIMRA) is a project funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme.

SIMRA seeks to advance understanding of social innovation and innovative governance in agriculture, forestry and rural development, and how to boost them, particularly in marginalised rural areas across Europe, with a focus on the Mediterranean region (including non-EU) where there is limited evidence of outcomes and supporting conditions.

Two very important documents were prepared within the project:

North Macedonia - Rural youth and women employment, based on the social entrepreneurship and collective short supply chain

National training “Rural youth and women employment, based on the social entrepreneurship and collective short supply chain” was held on 25th and 26th October 2019 in Demir Kapija, North Macedonia. 

Training was organized through the project “Innovative Support to employment of Rural marginalized groups – SyneRgi” supported by Visegrad International Fund.

On training, youth and women from short supply chains developed capacities about social entrepreneurship, role of LAGs in short supply chains development and short supply chains.

Serbia - Rural youth and women employment, based on the social entrepreneurship and collective short supply chain

National training “Rural youth and women employment, based on the social entrepreneurship and collective short supply chain” was held on 25 and 26 October 2019 in Kraljevo, Serbia.

On training, youth and women from short supply chains developed capacities about social entrepreneurship, role of LAGs in short supply chains development and short supply chains.
Trainers were selected by Network for rural development of Serbia from participants of the trainings of trainers organized in earlier phase of the project.

Bosnia and Herzegovina - Rural youth and women employment, based on the social entrepreneurship and collective short supply chain

On 23 and 24 October 2019 in Sokolac, Bosnia and Herzegovina, was held national training on the topic “Rural youth and women employment, based on the social entrepreneurship and collective short supply chain”.

Training was organized through the project “Innovative Support to employment of Rural marginalized groups – SyneRgi” supported by Visegrad International Fund.

Participants (youth and women from short supply chains) were able to gain knowledge about:

-    Short Food Chains as a chance for employment of rural marginalized groups

Kosovo - Rural youth and women employment, based on the social entrepreneurship and collective short supply chain

National training “Rural youth and women employment, based on the social entrepreneurship and collective short supply chain” was held on 16th and 17th October 2019 in Orahovac, Kosovo.

On training, youth and women from short supply chains developed capacities about social entrepreneurship, role of LAGs in short supply chains development and short supply chains.
Trainers were selected by Network of Organizations for Rural Development of Kosovo from participants of the trainings of trainers organized in earlier phase of the project.

Montenegro - Rural youth and women employment, based on the social entrepreneurship and collective short supply chain

National training “Rural youth and women employment, based on the social entrepreneurship and collective short supply chain” was held on 15th and 16th October 2019 in Nikšić, Montenegro. Training was organized through the project “Innovative Support to employment of Rural marginalized groups – SyneRgi” supported by Visegrad International Fund.

On training, youth and women from short supply chains developed capacities about social entrepreneurship, role of LAGs in short supply chains development and short supply chains.

Albania - Rural youth and women employment, based on the social entrepreneurship and collective short supply chain

On 14 and 15 October 2019 in Tirana, Albania, was held national training on the topic “Rural youth and women employment, based on the social entrepreneurship and collective short supply chain”.
Training was organized through the project “Innovative Support to employment of Rural marginalized groups – SyneRgi” supported by Visegrad International Fund.

Participants (youth and women from short supply chains) were able to gain knowledge about:

-    Short Food Chains as a chance for employment of rural marginalized groups

Rural development policy forum of SEE countries 2019

From 10th to 12th September 2019, the Rural development policy forum of SEE countries was held in Zlatibor (Serbia). The Forum is organized by national networks dealing with rural development, as umbrella organizations of the CSO’s of the Balkan countries and Development Foundation of Turkey. The Forum is financially supported by EU (through ALTER project) and Visegrad International Fund (through SINERGY project) and Zlatibor Eko Agrar Ltd.

Niš - Round table on the topic "Implementation of LEADER Approach at the Local Level"

On August 7, 2019, in Niš was held a round table on the topic "Implementation of LEADER Approach at the Local Level".

The roundtable was jointly organized by the Network for rural development of Serbia and the Ministry of agriculture, forestry and water management with financially support by EU through ALTER project "Active Local Territories for Rural Economic Development" (as part of the activity "National platform for discussion about  rural development policies”).
